Four additional members of Aberla team awarded SMSTS Certification
Four additional members of Aberla’s management team have attained their certificate for passing the CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS).
Recognised across the industry as one of the fundamental health and safety courses for site management, the SMSTS is part of the Site Safety Plus (SSP) courses designed to provide individuals with an understanding of health, safety, welfare and environment within their work activities.
Aberla’s values are focused around delivering excellence efficiently and safely. This course is an example of the business looking to improve its health and safety performance, ensuring all site managers have a strong understanding of the relevant legislation.
The course was spread over five days, focusing on the necessity for risk assessment within the workplace, the implementation of the necessary control measures and adequate communication to sustain a health and safety culture amongst the workforce
Participants, due to the current circumstances and safety implications from the COVID-19 pandemic, attended the training over five conference calls. Despite this, tutors kept activities highly interactive with content including industry case studies, classroom discussions, group work and individual presentations.
Once the five days of training were completed, participants earned their SMSTS certificate, which lasts for 5 years. Aberla’s participants will now be able to incorporate updated health, safety, welfare and environmental legislation within daily operations, implementing policies according to new guidance and industry best practice.
Aberla is continuously looking to improve its people, an essential element that drives the progression of the business and is proud of the participants for successfully achieving their CITB SMSTS accreditation.
