Aberla M&E progresses contract for Mansion House
North-West based Aberla M&E, part of the Aberla Group, has commenced initial works on Mansion House in New Islington, Manchester. Aberla M&E is delivering the full MEP installation package for Artez Construction.
Located just a 20-minute walk from the heart of Manchester, the 40-apartment waterside development has been constructed using Cross Laminated Timber (CLT).
The CLT panels are an engineered timber product, produced from bonding layers of sawn timbers. Using CLT is more efficient than traditional steel and concrete, keeping waste to a minimum and is designed to maximise thermal performance, durability, acoustics and airtightness.
The works include full apartment fitouts across the scheme. All plumbing and electrical elements will be designed and installed as well as a centrally located extract system to generate airflow throughout the apartments. Both the sprinkler and dry risers will give coverage to the apartments and communal areas, and all boosted cold-water pipework will be installed, lagged and tested.
Dr Daniel Strosnider, strategy and sustainability director at Aberla Group, commented “Mansion House is a fascinating project to work on. The use of off-site construction methods brings an element of precision to the build that requires careful planning to ensure everything is connected. We pride ourselves on delivering innovative engineering solutions for our clients. This unique scheme provides us with the perfect opportunity to demonstrate the level of our expertise.”
The Northern Powerhouse continues to grow, as Aberla becomes involved in yet another exciting scheme in the Manchester area. Mansion House will provide future residents with an opportunity to live in a modernised home with picturesque views of the New Islington Marina and Cotton Field Park, in the fast-developing area of central Manchester.
