Mechanical Site Manager

Salary:

£40,000 – £45,000 per annum (dependent upon experience)

 

Main Objectives:

To report directly to the M&E Project Manager on all matters relating to the day to day running of the project taking full responsibility for the required standards of Health and Safety, protection of works, presentation and quality of the product.

Location:

Manchester/Warrington

The main duties include the responsibility for the following:

  • Preparation of all relevant documentation prior to the commencement of the installation phase of contracts, including but not limited to:
    • Site Management Plans
    • Risk Assessments and Method Statements for activities being undertaken by directly employed resources
  • Reviewing and approval of subcontractors site documentation including but not limited to:
    • Risk Assessments and Method Statements
    • Installation programmes
    • Test and Inspection documentation and
    • Operation and Maintenance Documentation
  • Management and control of all site activities ensuring that all work is undertaken in a safe and timely manner in accordance with all Safety, Health and Environmental legislation, all relevant contractual timescales and all relevant contract specifications.
  • Liaison with the client’s management and operational staff to ensure all KPI’s are met or exceeded.
  • To work alongside the client and project manager to regularly review the progress of the works ensuring that adherence to the contract programme dates are maintained. This will include the preparation and maintenance of fortnightly look ahead programmes.
  • To ensure all required site documentation is completed, including but not limited to:
    • Daily diary sheets
    • Daily allocation sheets
    • Records of delays and changes, including the financial implications
    • All relevant Safety, Health and Environmental documentation
    • Records in respect of Subcontractor progress and performance
  • To undertake Site Inductions and regular Tool Box Talks for all resources visiting and working on the site.
  • Ensure that site costs are monitored and controlled.
  • Preparation of progress reports as required.
  • Attendance at site visits / meetings.
  • Coordination and liaison with suppliers, specialist sub-contractors, in-house functions, site installation and construction teams.
  • Preparation of material & plant requisitions.

Qualifications and training – Essential:

  • CSCS Card at Site Manager level
  • Valid CITB SMSTS certificate
  • NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Domestic Plumbing and Heating
  • Valid First Aid at Work certificate
  • Current full UK driving licence

Qualifications and training – Desirable:

  • IOSH Managing Safety
  • Gas Safe Qualifying Supervisor
  • Qualified to the required CIOB Grade applicable at the time in accordance with Group policy

Experience:

  • Trade experience and site experience preferable
  • Up to date knowledge of health and safety obligations and building legislation

Electrical Site Manager

Salary:

Main Objectives:

M&E Quantity Surveyor

Report to: Commercial Director

Key Purpose:

The Quantity Surveyors role is to be the commercial lead on a project and/or projects throughout the North-West, ranging in value between £500k and £10million, to answer directly to the Commercial Director on all commercial matters

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee all project specific commercial matters and provide support to the operational team, ensuring cost effective solutions to meet the company’s objectives.

The role will involve

  • Overall commercial responsibility for a project.
  • Candidate should have knowledge of both electrical and mechanical installations,
  • To carry out monthly valuations of work in progress, including forecasting of final accounts
  • Prepare and monitor project cash flow forecasts.
  • Measure, value, submit and negotiate contract variations.
  • Provide advice to operations team on commercial and contractual matters including reviewing and drafting of correspondence.
  • Prepare submit and negotiate project final accounts with both client and supply chain
  • Commercial analysis of main contract terms and conditions along with review and approval of all numbered documents
  • Commercial analysis of sub-contractor tenders and placing of sub-contract orders.
  • Certification of subcontractor monthly valuations and final accounts.
  • Ensure that business commercial processes are adhered to at project level.
  • Assist in preparation and adherence to project purchasing targeting and costing budgets.
  • Preparation and presentation of monthly contract forecasting report
  • Overseeing preparation of accurate sub-contractor packages for pricing and liaising with our supply chain
  • Clarifying any design requirements with clients and/or their agents
  • Undertaking value engineering exercise alongside clients and estimating team.
  • Building and maintaining a strong working relationship with clients.

 

The M&E Quantity Surveyor will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Experience of working as part of a Project Team
  • Good communicator with the ability to lead and oversee projects
  • Experience of working on multi-discipline M&E projects
  • Experience in a previous M&E Quantity Surveying role
  • Experience of managing both design and build and traditional build contracts.
  • Ability to review and adhere to variety of contract conditions
  • Relevant qualifications in a mechanical and electrical and/or commercial discipline
  • Ability to maximise return/benefit through client relationship and supply chain management
  • Relevant CSCS Card.
  • Computerised cost management software and IT skills as appropriate.
  • Ability in the use of Microsoft Excel

Location:

The successful plumber will be required to carry out temporary and permanent installations within the construction industry.  The plumber will be time served and have a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in domestic and commercial environments, with good communication skills essential when working with client supervisors/management.

Electrician

M&E Estimator

Report to: Commercial Director

Key Purpose:

The Estimator’s role is to lead on estimates across the business in conjunction with the preconstruction team, to answer directly to the board of directors on all estimating matters and develop/build the estimating function within the larger group of companies.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee all estimating matters and provide support to the preconstruction and bid teams, ensuring cost effective solutions to meet the company’s objectives.

The role responds directly to the Commercial Director.

 

The role will involve

  • Responding to tender related queries and preparing tender packages/quotations with values ranging from £100k to £5m+ depending on client requirements
  • Candidate should have knowledge of both electrical and mechanical estimating, but an electrical bias is preferred
  • Managing own work flow and maintaining accurate record of tenders submitted
  • Undertaking estimates in accordance with Company procedures
  • Identifying opportunities and risks during the tender process
  • Liaising with the bid, preconstruction and delivery teams to agree strategy, key dates and site visits
  • Maintaining an estimating register and tracker
  • Producing detailed exclusions, assumptions and qualifications for tenders
  • Producing fully detailed contractors’ proposals to be submitted alongside the commercial proposal
  • Leading tender adjudications at bid approval stage
  • Preparing handover packs for the operations team
  • Determining the price of time, labour and materials for tender submissions
  • Negotiating cost settlements for projects
  • Overseeing preparation of accurate sub-contractor packages for pricing and liaising with our supply chain
  • Clarifying any design requirements with clients and/or their agents
  • Undertaking value engineering exercise alongside clients estimating team.
  • Building and maintaining a strong working relationship with clients.

 

The M&E Estimator will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Experience of working as part of a Project Team

  • Experience within a bid team and/or commercial setting
  • Experience in a previous mechanical and electrical estimating role
  • Experience of estimating medium/large size mechanical, electrical, energy, utility and infrastructure projects within the private and public sector
  • Experience of estimating both design and build and traditional build contracts
  • Ability to draft detailed contractors’ proposals
  • Relevant qualifications in a mechanical and electrical related discipline
  • Ability to maximise return/benefit from procurement practices and supply chain management
