The health and safety of our people, customers and members of the general public is at the top of our agenda and our sites are amongst the safest in the industry. Our robust health and safety systems are supported by a comprehensive training and support programme for employees at all levels within the company.

Our comprehensive Health and Safety Policy is implemented in all premises owned or controlled by the company and in any place of work where Aberla are employed.

In pursuance of this policy the Company will take action to:

  • Comply with applicable statutory and stakeholder requirements.
  • Provide adequate control of the Health and Safety risks arising from our work activities.
  • Consult with our employees on matters affecting their Health and Safety.
  • Provide and maintain safe plant and equipment.
  • Provide training information, instruction and supervision for employees
  • Ensure all employees are competent to do their tasks and to give them adequate training.
  • Prevent accidents, injury and cases of work related ill health; maintain safe and healthy working conditions.
  • Periodically review and revise this policy as necessary at regular intervals.
  • Continual improvement in occupational health & safety management and performance

The Managing Director has ultimate responsibility for Occupational Health & Safety within the company, of which the day to day management is delegated the senior management staff.

As part of our commitment to comply with our quality related requirements our management systems are continually assessed and improved, in line with our overall aims to:

  • Comply with our legal and contractual obligations and duties
  • Deliver contracts on schedule
  • Achieve zero defects at handover
  • Use Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure performance

Our quality objectives provide the framework of our quality policy and are established and reviewed as part of our management review process. Each objective is substantiated in our QMS through auditable evidence.

Our Quality Strategy

Our quality management system is based on the following key strategies which we apply throughout our organisation in order to manage individual and team performance:

  • Effective policies, motivational leadership and visible senior management commitment
  • Effective organisation with clearly defined management structures.
  • Clear accountability established through the delegation of well-defined roles and responsibilities
  • The setting of challenging but realistic goals and standards for individuals and teams
  • The reduction of quality risks to the lowest reasonable practicable level through detailed pre-planning, risk assessment, risk registers and risk control strategies
  • The formulation and implementation of effective quality control, processes and procedures
  • Planned inspections of work activities during the pre-process and post-process phases
  • Regular and proactive quality performance auditing, monitoring and review

Whistleblowing

We are committed to conducting our business with honesty and integrity at all times. However, like all companies, things may go wrong from time to time, and there is a risk of illegal or unethical conduct taking place without our knowledge. A culture of openness and accountability is essential in order to prevent such situations occurring and to address them when they do occur.

We encourage staff to report suspected wrongdoing as soon as possible. Any concerns that you raise will be taken seriously and investigated so that appropriate action can be taken. If you report concerns, your confidentiality will be respected. Even if your concerns turn out to be mistaken, you will be protected from suffering any victimisation or reprisals for having reported them.
