CityFibre, one of the UK’s leading fibre network providers, has awarded Gabitel Ingenieros with a design contract for FTTP Infrastructure, and a FTTP survey contract which will be delivered by Aberla Utilities.

The contract includes surveying, planning and designing fibre routes for CityFibre to extend their gigabit capable network to an additional 100,000 premises across the South of England.

Aberla Utilities, part of Warrington-based Aberla Group, partnered with Spanish telecoms experts Gabitel in August 2020, to provide a class leading digital surveying/design tool for fibre network providers.

Earlier this year, CityFibre increased their investment from £2.5bn to £4bn as they rollout a 1Gbps FTTP network intended to reach 8 million UK homes by 2025. The first target is to cover 1 million premises by the end of 2021.

Paul McCarren, chief executive officer at the Aberla Group said, “Deployment of fibre across the UK is building a lot of momentum, it’s an exciting time for the industry. For us to be involved with CityFibre’s rollout at this early stage sets the foundation for a long and successful relationship.”

Aberla is increasing capacity and ramping up to meet the sector’s growing pipeline of fibre infrastructure projects. The business is positioning itself as vital supply-chain partners in delivering the UK’s FTTP infrastructure rollout.
